Amaranthus Early Splendour

Amaranthus tricolor

This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List

Amaranthus Splendour tricolor is a real eye-catcher. It has a vivid and eye-catching colour combination that will stand out in any garden. Growing to 1.2M (4ft) with a spread of 60cm (2ft), it has yellow and scarlet upper leaves green lower leaves. The colour variation is stable and will last the life of the plant.

A very fast growing annual plant that is half hardy. In frost prone areas it is usually started in a greenhouse and transferred to an outside position when the chance of frost is small. Pruning the plants while young will give a ‘fuller’ plant at maturity.

A plant growing to 1.2m, it was used in the days of formal garden beds to give height to the centre of the bed. Another interesting fact is that the Amaranthus genus is edible both raw and cooked and is known as Chinese Spinach.

Offered is a packet containing 100 seeds and Grownotes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
