The Little Wallaby Paw is similar in colouration to the Western Australia state floral emblem. However, it is considered the dwarf among the Kangaroo Paws and I suspect that quality gave rise to the common name Little Wallaby Paw.

Like other members of the family, it is a stemless shrub with basal leaves that reach heights of 5 to 20 centimetres and the flowers are held on a long stem above the foliage in summer. An evergreen plant, the leaves are are lanceolate (sword-like), somewhat leathery and mid green. The entire family prefer a sandy loam soil that is free draining and take exception to wet feet. If your garden does not provide this use a raised bed or pots.

Note: Smoke treatment improves germination. Smoke treatment is the simple process of sprinkling treated vermiculite over the seeds and is available in my store.
