(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List)
The Genus Argyroderma is found in a small area of Southern Namaqualand in the Western Cape Province, even so, there are 50 species in that area.
They are compact, dwarf succulents and are rarely sunken into the soil, unlike Lithops. Their habitat is perhaps the driest in South Africa. The smooth, blue-green leaf pairs are united at the base which is virtually stemless. The leaves are replaced annually from the crease between the leaf pairs and the flowers arise from the same point.
A well-drained cactus mix should be used for growing and watering is kept to a minimum in summer and almost ceases in the winter. Overwatering encourages the plant to rot and it should always be kept on the dry side.
