Tuberous Begonias are different to wax-leaf Begonias (B. semperflorens). They are excellent for borders, pots or window boxes too.
They can grow to a height of 45 cm (18 in) with a spread of 45 cm (18 in). Blooms can be up 150 mm (6 in) wide and come in eight colours – soft pink, bright cherry, orange, red, rose, salmon, white and bright yellow.
Tuberous Begonias produce very showy flowers on a plant with rich green leaves and a mounding habit. Flowers appear in Spring and continue through Summer to the beginning of Autumn. These Begonias prefer part sun to part shade and moist, but well-drained soil. They are almost drought tolerant but may need shade in the hottest part of the day to prevent the leaves being scalded and yellowing.
Tuberous Begonias require a little attention but they reward your efforts with a magnificent, long-term floral display.
