Scented or Southern Cassia

A native of New South Wales and Queensland where it prefers light to heavy soils in a sunny, open position. It is both frost and drought resistant.

An evergreen shrub growing to a height and spread of 1.5 metres. The stem is slender with spreading branches and a heavily textured crown. The leaves are dark green and pinnate with 8 to 10 long leaflets. The flowers are bright yellow, pea shaped and appear in loose heads of two to six.

The early settlers used the leaves of this plant as a laxative.

Offered is a packet of 25 seeds and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this very showy tree.
