Ravensthorpe Wax Flower
(This plant is NOT on the Australian Noxious Weed List)
This plant is a native of southern West Australia where it prefers light, well-drained soils in an open sunny position. It is hardy to drought and frost.
An evergreen shrub that grows to 1 metre with a spread of 1 metre, the stem is erect and straggling; the leaves are small, narrow and terete (cylindrical) and about 1.5cm long; the flowers are creamy white changing to deep, rich red or rose pink with age. They have 5 petals, occur in terminal heads in spring and summer.
Hybrid crosses between this plant and Geraldton Wax have resulted in many of the colours seen today.
The seed of this plant requires smoke treatment before it will germinate. Smoke treatment is the simple process of covering the sown seed with smoked vermiculite (available in my store) and watering in.
Offered is a packet of 25 seeds and Grownotes to allow you to propagate this popular cut flower.
All my seed travels safely with bubble wrap protection.
