Citrus limon x reticularis

The ‘Lemonade’ tree is a cross between a lemon (Citrus limon) and a mandarin (Citrus reticularis) and is usually propagated by grafting onto a hardy rootstock. Seed from a hybrid is subject to the rules of genetics.
An evergreen, bushy, small, spreading tree to 4 metres (13 feet) with a dense crown of glossy, dark green leaves. The fruit is ovoid with thin, smooth skin like most modern Citrus varieties. The fruit is produced in winter but may produce a second crop if conditions are suitable. With an abundance of sweet juice, The fruit may be eaten when picked from the tree.
Citrus like a warm climate but are hardy to frost. They grow well in sub-tropical and warm temperate climates and coastal climates in cooler areas with a minimum of care.
Propagation by seed is not difficult and young trees may commence to fruit in their third year.
