Coopernookie polygalcea

(This plant is NOT on the Australian Noxious Weed List)

Pollynokkers’ is a spreading undershrub to 70cm tall and if it is provided with sufficient water it is a bushy shrub. A native of southern Western Australia, it grows in the Esperance area and hugs the coastal plain. This shrub has a preference for sandy soils over gravel and has revolute leaf margins (edges curled backwards) with fuzzy hair on the underside, the leaves being 12-30mm long and 3-6mm wide. The flowers vary in colour from pink, lilac-blue through to a soft purple. Flowering is from August to November (Southern Hemisphere) and can be quite profuse.

Pollynokkers will survive drought and cold weather, however, a much better plant is to be had with regular water. Droughted plants tend to shed the lower leaves to conserve moisture and become spindly looking. I tried to find out where the name Pollynokkers came from but unfortunately failed.

Offered is a packet of 30 seeds and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this shrub.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
