The Tasman Flax Lily grows in Tasmania, Victoria and the coastal strip of New South Wales as far as the North Coast. It has a heavy presence around the NSW/Vic. coastal border area.

A clumping plant with 93 cm leaves in a glossy green it can grow to 1 metre wide. Preferring shade this plant will perform well in part-shade and will survive a full sun position. It is frost, drought & salt spray tolerant while requiring little or no maintenance.

The Aboriginal people used the fruit for dying woven basket-ware.
