Eucalyptus pulverulenta cv
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
A straggly shrub or mallee (multi stemmed tree) from the southern highlands of New South Wales near Bredbo and further south near the Victorian border. It is extensively used by the US floral industry for fresh and dried arrangements.
Heavily pruned to force it to produce foliage that is blue-green, the leaves are unusual in that they are heart shaped (cordate), have no leaf stem (sessile) and clasp the branchlet in pairs. They are also lightly scented.
Like most mallees, it is frost and drought tolerant and prefers a full sun position though will accept some shade. It is also accepting of soil type providing it is well drained.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (includes chaff) with propagation notes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.
All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translates to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
All seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
