Emory’s Barrell Cactus
A native of Mexico and Arizona where it grows as a solitary globular light green barrel cactus. It reaches 2.5 m in height and 70 cm across with up to 30 acute ribs bearing reddish to white, flattened spines that reach 4-5 cm long. Flowering is in late autumn to early winter. Funnel-shaped red or yellow flowers are produced in multiples when the plant is quite young which result in a prolonged flowering period.
