Devil’s Tongue Barrell Cactus
Ferocactus latispinus
This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.
A native of Mexico where it grows as a single globular light green cactus. It reaches 30 cm in height and 40 cm across with up to 21 acute ribs bearing reddish to white, flattened spines that reach 4-5 cm long. Flowering is in late autumn to early winter. Funnel-shaped purplish or yellowish flowers are produced in multiples when the plant is quite young which result in a prolonged flowering period. It is hardy to minus 4°C for short periods and generally prefers temperatures no lower than 10°C. Dormancy is in summer and watering should be withheld at that time
Offered is a packet of approximately 20 seeds with propagation instructions.
