Silky Oak
Grevillea robusta
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
A native of northern New South Wales and Southern Queensland where it grows in full sun and is not fussy about soil type. An evergreen tree growing to 40 metres (less in cultivation) that has a rough, furrowed bark, single stem, fern-like leaves, and honey-coloured toothbrush-like flowers. Flowering is in spring preceded by the reduction in foliage carried.
While Silky oak comes from a warm coastal climate, it is cold tolerant to -8°C (18°F) once established and is used for cabinetry, furniture etc from plantations.
Offered is a 4.5 gram packet of approx 400 seeds complete with Grownotes to assist you in their propagation.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
