Common Hovea

Hovea trisperma

The Common Hovea is native to West Australia south-west of a line from Geraldton to Esperence where it prefers light to medium soils in a protected semi-shaded position. It is frost and drought resistant.

An evergreen shrub growing to 1 metre with an equal spread; the stem is trailing with spreading branches; the leaves are broad, blunt, prominently veined and 7.5cm long; the flowers are pea-shaped, royal purple though white flowering forms are known, large, occurring in clusters of 2 or 3 and appearing in winter or early spring.

Propagation by seed is not difficult.

Offered is a packet of 10 seeds complete with propagation notes.
