Crimson Cardinal Vine

Ipomoea quamoclit

This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List

An absolutely beautiful annual twining vine with vivid crimson trumpet flowers that attract nectar-feeding birds.  The foliage is attractive, lustrous emerald green and is segmented similar to a palm leaf.

Native to Central and Tropical America and a member of the Morning Glory family (Convolvulaceae). Annual vines are useful in that they are easily grown in most climates once all chance of frost is gone and in winter they are not shading areas from the Winter sun. This vine grows rapidly to 3 – 5 metres (10-15ft) in a season and commences to flower in summer through to Autumn and will re-seed if it is permitted to set fruit. Dead-heading &/or removal of pods will prevent this.

Cardinal Vines require support to grow on. A trellis, deck, post or arbour will be rapidly covered for the summer/autumn flowering season. This plant is considered very easy to grow.

Offered is a packet of 20 seeds complete with propagation notes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
