Limnanthes douglasii syn sulphurea
This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.
A native of California, the USA where it is adaptable to most soils and pH provided it is moist. It does not like shade and will not perform for you unless it is in an open position in full sun. Preference is for a cool root run so planting near a path or rocks is beneficial.
An annual growing to 33cm with a spread of 15cm, it has mid-green leaves and flowers profusely. The flowers are white with large yellow centres and brownish striations. On a calm day, the flowers emit a gentle, sweet, pleasing fragrance.
This plant re-seeds for next season’s crop and will require dead-heading if re-seeding is not desired.
