Quinine Berry

Petalostigma pubescens

A native of New South Wales and Queensland where it is adaptable to most soils and positions. However, it is drought and frost tender.

An evergreen tree to 10 metres with a spread of 4 metres, the stem is erect, slender and branching; leaves are mid-green and 5cm long while the flowers are insignificant. The fruit is orange berries.

The Australian Aborigine used part of this plant as an antiseptic wash, and the fruit was used to treat toothache.

Offered is a packet of 20 seeds with propagation notes.
