Spanish Sage or Lavender Salvia

Salvia lavandulifolia

This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List

A native of Spain where it is used in cooking, hence the name; also popular in Britain for the scent industry and with gardeners.

A fairly small, deciduous perennial growing to 40 cm x 40 cm (1.5 x 1.5 ft), it forms a low carpet of downy, greyish-white foliage. Blooming for a month or so in summer, its pale lavender 25 mm (1 in) blooms, held in loose whorls, are strongly attractant to hummingbirds and insects. It has a stronger flavour and aroma than common sage (Salvia officinalis) and is the favourite sage for cooking in Spain and is also used in soaps and toiletries.

This Salvia is tolerant of heat & humidity, cold tolerant to minus 7 degrees C (20F) and is accepting of drought, salt spray, sandy loam to clay loam and full sun.

Offered is a packet of 10 seeds (unfortunately seed is hard to get & of course expensive) and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this lovely lavender flowering, culinary plant.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
