The floral emblem and native to New South Wales, it prefers a light, rich, well-drained soil in a protected sunny position though it is frost and drought resistant.

An evergreen shrub it grows to a height of 3 metres with a spread of 2 metres. It is an erect shrub with an open crown of wedge-shaped to oblong leaves with serrate margins. They are leathery and prominently veined.

The flowers are exquisitely sculpted, fiery red, large globular heads up to 15 cm across appearing in spring.

Offered as a packet of approx. 5 seeds with grownotes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
