A native of Tasmania where it prefers medium, moist soils in a protected, partially shaded position. It is frost tolerant but does not like drought.

An evergreen shrub or small tree to 8 metres with a spread of 4 metres; the stem is stout, erect and branching with smooth bark. The leaves are dark glossy green, narrowly lanceolate, thick and 18cm long. The flowers are red, occurring in dense terminal heads, 8cm across and occurring profusely in summer.

Offered as a packet of approx. 15 seeds with grownotes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
