Creeping Thyme

Thymus serphyllum

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List)

Creeping Thyme or Mother-of-Thyme is a low growing groundcover that comes from Northern Europe. It grows to 7.6cm (3in) high with a spread of  25 cm (1 ft), tolerates deer, drought, shallow rocky soil and air pollution and is mainly used as an ornamental groundcover. It is rarely used in cooking.

It has numerous, thin, woody, prostrate stems that carry small, opposite oval, glossy blue-green leaves which form a flat mat 50-75 mm tall. The spreading stems root as they travel over the ground while leaves have an aromatic mint-like scent that varies with the seasons. The flowers are masses of dense,  tubular, bell-shaped, deep pink to purple blooms that appear in summer on raised 100 mm stems and are attractive to bees.

Offered as a packet of approx. 100 seeds with grownotes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
