This vine, a native of Mexico, prefers light, well-drained soils in a protected, sunny position. A deciduous vine, drought and frost tender, it climbs to 3 metres.

Its leaves are heart-shaped while its flowers are rose-pink, bell shaped  and occurring in dense sprays. While this is a tropical vine, it can be grown as an annual in colder areas.
