This Foxglove is a true perennial being a cross between Digitalis purpurea (the common Foxglove, a biennial) and Digitalis grandiflora (a yellow, true perennial). The result is the stunning Strawberry Foxglove which grows true from seed and like one parent is a true perennial. In cooler gardens it may live only 3 years but it will reward you with its stunning floral display.
Often described as being stately when in bloom, Foxgloves produce enormous, showy spikes of large, dangling bells in Strawberry Pink with the usual potted throat.
This plant does best in full sun to part shade in moist, well drained soils (of which it is not fussy) or pots. An easy care plant requiring moderate water, it produces blooms en masse. The plant grows 120-150cm (47-59in) with a spread of 30-45cm (12-18in) and has a medium growth rate. It is bird attracting and unattractive to deer and rabbit. The plant will occasionally self seed but is not invasive.
