Sea Holly, Deep Blue
Sea Holly is a striking plant. They look intimidating and it is not a bad idea to wear gloves when you cut them. An annual plant that loves well-drained soil in full sun, it is extremely drought hardy.
The plant is a basal rosette of coarsely toothed, rounded, leathery foliage from which the tall, sturdy, bluish, branching, flowering stems arise. Flowering is such that the terminal flowers retain their colour while the lateral flowers develop until the entire stem is covered in mature flowers.
Sea Holly is comfortable in USDA zones 4-9, grows 1-1.3m (3-4ft) with a spread of 0.6m (2ft). It dries particularly well with little loss of the metallic blue colour and blooms 4 months long.
Offered is a packet of 100 seeds complete with Grownotes to assist you in their propagation.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
