Gerbera Daisy Single Flowered Mix
Gerbera jamesonii
This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List
Native to the Transvaal, South Africa, this showiest of flowers is divided into four groups. The Single Flowered group have a greenish centre disc and petals that do not overlap one another. This is considered the most common Gerbera.
A perennial, evergreen plant growing to 30cm tall with blooms up to 17cm wide but more usually 12.5-15 cm wide. Colours include yellow, orange, pink, red, scarlet, white and pastels.
Gerberas like full sun and resent being cold. Gardeners in USDA zone 6 and below are forced to grow Gerberas as a house plant.
They make good cut flowers (with preservatives) and are excellent for use in arrangements.
Gerbera seed is very expensive (one variety currently offered by wholesalers is $577.50 per 1000 seeds) and is rarely offered in quantity. The nursery industry usually purchases seed and grows one seed per pot until flowering then offering them for sale singly. This offer will not be repeated once stocks are gone.
Offered is a packet containing 20 seeds and Grownotes.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
