Knotty or Knobby Club Rush
Isolepis nodosa syn. Ficinia
This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List
A native of New Zealand and all States of Australia where it grows on a wide range of soils (sand, clay or loam) either waterlogged or dry and is tolerant of salt, frost and drought. It is ideal for coastal conditions and may be grown as front-line foliage on seaside sand dunes.
A tough, fast-growing, evergreen, low maintenance, native sedge with upright, sometimes gently weeping, dark-green foliage of tufting or clumping habit. It grows between 15cm and 100cm in height, 60 to 80 cm in diameter, depending on the conditions in which it is grown. The flowers which appear in spring and summer are of a brownish/cream semi-spherical form that appears near the top of the leaves.
An ideal contrasting foliage plant for gardens or for mass planting on difficult or seaside sites. Maintenance is minimal once established and
consists of cutting the foliage back to ground level every three years to rejuvenate the plant and applying fertiliser. Of course, a much better plant is to be had with care and attention but it is much-forgiving if you cannot always do that.
Offered is a packet of approximately 1000 seeds complete with propagation notes.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
