IRISH MOSS or CAUCASIAN PEARLWORT
Sagina subulata syn pilifera

Not a Moss at all, it is a member of the Carnation family that grows in a wide habitat from Iceland to Spain and east to Romania and Sweden. It also has a presence in the British Isles.
Irish Moss is a low-growing prostrate perennial which forms a thick spreading mat in the temperate areas of Europe. the stems are 10cm long and the white flowers are produced singly on 2-4 cm stems. It is found in dry, open, sandy or gravelly places, trackways, heaths and dry banks near the sea and is known to grow on mountains to 700 metres.
Well-drained soils in full sun or partly shaded positions are to the plant’s liking.
Offered as a packet of approximately 400 seeds with grownotes.
