A native of the Western Australia coastal areas from Broome to the Great Australian Bight where it prefers light, white to grey sands or medium clays on coastal limestone cliffs and dunes.
An evergreen shrub 1 metre x 1 metre (3ft x 3ft), The stem may be erect or decumbent with spreading branches; the leaves are medium green, ovate or spoon-shaped, stiff, serrate edged, succulent in appearance and held on brittle stems. The flowers are pale violet, expanding tubular, fan-shaped, with five petals, occurring on short stems and held above the foliage. Flowering is from July to February (Southern Hemisphere).
Note. This seed requires smoke treatment to germinate. The Treatment simply consists of sprinkling treated vermiculite over the seeds at sowing. Treated vermiculite is available in my store, simply input ‘smoke treatment’.
