Midyim Berry, Midgen Berry or Quaker’s Cherry

Austromyrtus dulcis

This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List

A native of the north-east New South Wales and South East Queensland where it likes light to medium well-drained soils in a moist, shaded position. It is frost hardy but dislikes drought.

A small, evergreen shrub to 0.5 metres with a spread of 0.8 metres; its stem is slender, erect and branching; the leaves are green but take on a reddish hue in colder areas; the flowers are white, five petaled, open, star-shaped and profuse in winter and spring. The fruit is small, globular berries that were much sought after by the Aborigines.

This seed is very rarely offered, but I’m pleased to be able to offer it.

Offered is a packet of 10 seeds and Grownotes to assist you in successfully growing this plant.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
