Lemon Scented Gum
Corymbia citriodora syn. Eucalyptus citriodora

A native of eastern Queensland where it prefers deep, sandy, moist, well-drained loams or clays in a protected, sunny position. It is frost hardy but dislikes drought conditions.
An attractive evergreen tall tree to 40 metres with a spread of 4 metres. The stem is slender, straight with high, spreading branches, smooth, powdery white to grey bark and open-textured crown. The leaves are dull, dark green, narrowly lanceolate, 16cm long and exude a sharp lemon fragrance. The flowers buds are oval appearing in groups of three or five while the flowers open greenish-white winter and spring.
This tree is a bloodwood (weeps red keno when wounded) which group of trees has been renamed Corymbia from Eucalyptus. All bloodwoods have large seeds when compared with the Eucalyptus.
