Lemon Scented Myrtle
Darwinia citriodora
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
A native of Western Australia, this shrub prefers light, moist, well-drained, well-mulched soils in an open semi-shaded position. It is drought, frost and salt tolerant.
An evergreen, compact shrub growing to 1.2 metres, it has grey-green triangular leaves which are heavily lemon scented. The flowers are red and yellow with protruding anthers in terminal heads during spring and autumn.
Germination of the seed is a little different but not beyond the average gardener. Smoke treatment is essential. Smoke treatment is the simple process of sprinkling treated vermiculite over the sown seed. Smoke treatment is in my store.
Offered is a packet of 10 seeds and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this pretty native shrub.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
