Eucalyptus moluccana – Gum-Topped Box seed x 5 grams (bulk)

A medium-sized tree with a very large habitat area. Its range is from Jervis Bay, New South Wales coastal plain and ranges extending northwards to the southern Atherton Tablelands in Queensland.

An evergreen, straight stemmed, medium-sized tree growing to 25 metres (80ft)  in the wild. However, it is a much smaller tree in cultivation – 15 – 20 metres with a spread of 1.5 metres (5ft) and tending to weep. The dense, heavy crown is formed of grey-green, crescent-shaped leaves to 150mm (6″) and a rough bark that covers the lower 2-3 metres of the trunk and then changes to a smooth whitish or grey bark that sheds in ribbons.

The flowers are white, honey-scented, appear in clusters in mid-Summer to mid-Autumn and are very attractive to bees.

This tree is drought and frost tolerant and of very good form.

DISCLAIMER.

All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases, it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translate to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
