A native of South Africa where it prefers light to medium, well-drained soils in an open, sunny or semi-shaded position. It is frost hardy once established and drought tolerant.
A perennial, evergreen plant growing to a height of 80 cm with a spread of 80 cm; the stem is erect and flowering; the leaves are long, linear and bluish-green arranged in a basal rosette; the flowers are coral red and yellow, occurring in a dense, erect, terminal spike, 40 cm long. It is best for small gardens with respect to other species.
Offered is a packet of 10 seeds with propagation notes.
