Blue Stars or Blue Squill

A native of West Australia, South Australia, Victoria and Tasmania in moist sandy or peaty heath or light forests.
A perennial herb with a tuberous root system, this member of the Lily family grows 15cm high x 15cm wide has a basal tuft of soft leaves and a single flower spike bearing one to six, blue, 6 petalled flowers. The flowers are followed by a three-lobed seed capsule.
A frost tolerant plant that does not like drought conditions, it becomes dormant through summer and appears again in autumn (fall).
This seed requires smoke treatment to germinate which can be found by searching for ‘smoke treatment’ in my store. Smoke treatment is the simple process of sprinkling treated vermiculite over the sown seeds.
