Lavatera is a member of the Malvaceae family which includes the Hibiscus and Hollyhock. The flowers, which resemble the Hibiscus, are quite large, 10-12.5 cm across (4-5 in) and are excellent as a cut or dried flower.
This cultivar is well branched, growing to a height of 120 cm (48 in). The seeds are a mixture of white, pink and rose which cover the bushes profusely. It has a very long flowering period which can be improved by dead-heading (removing spent flowers).
Rose Mallows tolerate most soils with a broad pH provided the soil is average to moist. An easily grown annual that well and truly repays the little effort taken to cultivate it.
