Jervis Bay Tea Tree
Leptospermum rotundifolia
This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.
The Jervis Bay tea tree has the largest and most flamboyant flowers of any of the tea trees. Its botanical name is Leptospermum rotundifolium (Jervis Bay form) and in the right conditions, it will grow 1.8m high and 3m wide. However, in cultivation, it is usually much smaller than this.
It is moderately frost resistant, will tolerate coastal planting (salt) and prefers well-drained soils. It should be planted in full sun and tip pruned to promote bushiness. It flowers for a lengthy period in Spring.
Propagation by seed occurs readily.
