A native of southwest West Australia where it prefers light soils in an open, sunny position. It is drought and frost hardy.
An evergreen vine climbing to a height of 3 metres (10ft) with a spread of 3 metres; the stem is smooth, woody and twining; the leaves are narrow and elliptical, 4cm long; the flowers are a creamy white streaked with violet, open and 2.5cm across; the flowers appear in summer and autumn. The seed of this plant has to be treated with smoke to germinate. Smoke treatment is the simple process of sprinkling treated vermiculite over the sown seeds. Smoked vermiculite is available in my store.
