Thyme Honey-Myrtle

A native of Queensland, New South Wales and Victorian coastal belt where it prefers medium to heavy soils damp or swampy areas in an open, sunny position. It is drought resistant but will only survive a moderate frost.
An evergreen shrub growing to a height of 1 metre with a spread of 1 metre; the stem is erect and smooth carrying a medium textured crown on slender, upright branches; the leaves are greyish-green, elliptical, slightly acuminate (pointed), narrow, stiff and 1cm long; the flowers are pinkish-purple, occurring in short, ovoid, lateral spikes and appearing in spring, summer and autumn. The fruit is small, woody capsules.
