A native of Asia where it prefers light to medium well-drained soils in a sunny, protected position. It is frost resistant but drought tender.
An evergreen tree growing to 12 metres (40ft) with a spread of 3 metres (10 ft). The stem is erect, sturdy and branching; the leaves are glossy green and oval; the flowers are golden yellow to orange, highly fragrant and 5cm across.
This tree is of the Magnolia family, members of which are known for their fragrance.
Offered is a packet of 10 seeds with propagation notes.
