A native of tropical America, it prefers a rich, moist, well-drained soil in a protected, sunny to partially shaded position. It is both frost and drought tender.
An evergreen vine with a very thick stem (almost trunk-like) and large leaves with deeply incised margins, it grows to a height/spread of 3 metres. Philodendron bipinnatifidum and Philodendron selloum are the same plants expressing themselves in slightly different forms. The inedible seeds offered are from the Philodendron bipinnatifidum form with the thick trunk.
Philodendrons produce calcium oxalate crystals which are an irritant to the mouth and esophagus.
Offered is a packet of 20 seeds with propagation notes.
