Purple Leaved NZ Flax

Phormium tenax purpurea

New Zealand Flax (Phormium tenax) is a clumping plant that comes in colours: the normal green, burgundy red, yellow, purple and bronze or bi-coloured.  The leaves are stiff and upright, grow to a height of 200mm, while the tall Summer flower spikes are cream or dull red.

This plant will tolerate almost any condition. It is adaptable to most soils in full sun. Tolerant of frost, some shade, dry and poor soils.  It is most suitable for tough seaside conditions (salt tolerant).

Offered is a packet of 30 seeds with propagation notes.
