Thyme, Garden Thyme

Thymus vulgaris

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List)

A herb of the western Mediterranean and southern Italy where it prefers dry, sandy soils and dislikes heavy clay soils. Growing to a height of 30 cm with a spread of 40 cm. Flowering is in early summer, the blooms purple or pink. This herb is highly aromatic.

Thyme is a woody sub-shrub that requires replacing every 3 or 4 years to provide fresh, young stems for harvest. After harvest, the stems should be allowed to dry to allow easy stripping of the leaves from the stem.

The plant should be grown in a position that is protected from frost.

Offered as a packet of approx. 100 seeds with grownotes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
