Balga W.A. Grass Tree
Xanthorrhoea preissii
A native of South Western Australia where it grows in sandy soils and tolerates drought and light frost. It was known to the Aborigines as Balga and Europeans as Blackboy because of its fire blackened trunk but this term has fallen into disuse.
This grass tree grows a trunk to 3 metres (39 inches) over time and the flower spike can add another 1.5 metres. Grass trees are very slow growing but worth the wait. They are known to survive 600 years.
Offered is a packet of 20 seeds and Grownotes to assist you to cultivate this elegant warm area grass tree.
All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
