Tasmanian Snow Gum
(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
Indigenous to the high peaks of Tasmania, it prefers light to medium, moist soils in an open, sunny position and is frost and snow resistant but dislikes drought.
An evergreen tree growing to a height of 20 metres (70 ft) with a spread of 3 metres (10 ft). The stem is usually stunted, twisted, short and branching with irregularly blotched bark and an open-textured crown; the leaves are dark green, thin, elliptical with a hooked point and 10cm long; the flowers are white occurring in groups of three in summer and the fruit are large, woody, valved capsules.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (includes chaff) and Grownotes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.
All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translates to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
All seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
