(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
A native of West Australia in a small area just south-east of Kalgoorlie where it prefers granitic soils and an open, sunny position. It is both frost and drought tolerant.
An evergreen Mallee type (multi-stemmed) shrub growing to a height of 3 metres and a spread of 1.5 metres; the stem is erect with straggling branches and smooth greyish or yellowish-brown bark; the leaves are greyish-blue, opposite, sessile (no leaf stalk) ovate or rounded and 2 cm across; the flower buds are conical and pink while the flowers are bright yellow appearing in autumn.
Foliage from this tree is much used as a floristry filler; the unusual colour, leaf shape and density really adds that ‘something’ to floral arrangements.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (includes chaff) with propagation notes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.
All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translates to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
All seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
