(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)
A native of coastal New South Wales where it likes light to medium, moist soils in an open, sunny position.
An evergreen, tall tree growing to 50 metres (150 ft) with a spread of 5 metres (15 ft). The stem is beautifully erect and majestic, branching with a densely textured crown and smooth, greyish bark except for a fibrous portion near the base. It is mildly drought and frost tolerant.
The leaves are lanceolate, mid-green with undulating margins; the flower buds are angular, occurring in groups of 3 to 9; the flowers are white appearing from summer to autumn; the fruit is small, four-valved capsules.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (includes chaff) with propagation notes. Buyers should read the disclaimer below.
All Eucalyptus/Corymbia seed is harvested from the wild under licence and is sold as a combination of fertilised/unfertilised (chaff) seed. In many cases, it is not possible to tell the difference. The ratio of fertilised seed varies greatly and depends wholly on weather conditions prior to seed set. Standard industry practice is to offer 200 seeds per packet which translates to something like 10 to 30 viable seeds (which have not been counted). If the above is not acceptable to you, please do not purchase any of the above seeds.
All seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
