A native of Western Australia’s arid Goldfields area where it is adaptable to most soils in an open, sunny position and is drought and frost resistant.
An evergreen shrub growing to 2 metres (6ft) with a spread of 1 metre; the stem is erect, open and straggling; the leaves are heart-shaped, occurring in four rows; the flowers are brilliant red, bottlebrush-like and 5cm long appearing in late spring.
The W.A. Herbarium rates the conservation of this plant as Priority 3 – Rare Flora which is poorly known and in urgent need of a survey study.
Propagation by seed occurs readily.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (including chaff) with propagation notes.
