Spathulate Honey-Myrtle

Melaleuca spathulata

(This plant is not on the Australian Noxious Weed List.)

A native of southwest Western Australia, it prefers light sandy to gravelly soils in an open, sunny position. It is drought hardy but dislikes frost.

An evergreen shrub growing to a height of 2 metres and a spread of 2 metres with an erect stem and spreading branches. The crown is loosely textured and formed of dark green, small, spoon-shaped leaves that are 1cm long.

The flowers are deep mauve to red, occurring in dense, pom-pom terminal heads which appear in late spring. It puts on quite a show!!

Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (including chaff) with propagation notes.

All my seed is posted in bubble wrap protection.
