Prickly Honey-Myrtle
Melaleuca styphelioides

A native of New South Wales and Queensland, it prefers light to medium, moist soils in a sunny, open position. It is frost and drought resistant and salt tolerant.
An evergreen tree grows to 10 metres with a spread of 3 metres. The stem is erect, with thick, papery, mottled bark. The branches are spreading carry a very dense, rounded crown.
The flowers are creamy-white, dense and profuse appearing from spring to summer. The leaves are small (1.5cm), stiff, acuminate and prickly but it makes a good shade tree.
Offered is a packet of 200 seeds (including chaff) with propagation notes.
