Portulaca grandiflora goes by several names – that of Portulaca, Moss Rose, Rose Moss and Sun Plant. It is a low growing, annual succulent from Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.
Growing just 150mm high with a spread of 200mm, these plants prefer full sun in a position that will dry out between waterings. They tolerate hot, dry conditions well.
Portulacas bear large flowers 50mm across and the Sunnyside Mix gives white/cream, rose, orange and yellow flowers. Modern cultivars have been bred so that the flowers open earlier in the day than the species plant and provide a bright, sunny show on the hottest of days.
Easy to grow and thrive with just a little care. Good for mass planting, or for pots and window boxes.
